The Faculty of Economics was established in 2007 and builds on the tradition of economic higher education in České Budějovice that began to develop in the 1960s. Since its establishment, the faculty has seen a number of successes in science and research. It offers all levels of higher education studies in full-time and part-time forms. The chances of its graduates to find employment are high according to long-term statistics.

The faculty emphasises the development of modern forms of education bolstering practical skills of graduates such as programme or project instruction, connection with IT in the form of robotisation, artificial intelligence or virtual reality as well as the engagement of students in science and research or work on practical orders for cities and regions. Active students have the option of shadowing managers or pursuing internships in important companies. The faculty also develops intensive cooperation with businesses and institutions of the local as well as supranational nature in industries and services. International cooperation is key for the faculty. It takes actively takes place in the joint degree programme Regional and European Project Management. At the level of inter-university agreements, the faculty cooperates with the foremost universities on all continents.

Science and research mainly focus on topics related to the economics and management of enterprises and the socio-economic factors of regional development and the use of information technology in business or institutional application. Issues of sustainability, circular economics and economy – or bioeconomy – are newly being developed as important directions of innovation processes in countries of the European Union. The Faculty of Economics is the first higher education institution in the Czech Republic that has obtained the status Fairtrade faculty. It disseminates ideas of fair trade and social responsibility and thus it has been aiding in raising future generations towards considerate consumption behaviour since 2013 already.
