Observatory Upice

Observatory is focused on research of the Sun, popularization and education. It is opened almost non-stop and offers observing of the Universe, introduction to telescopes, lectures for public, astronomical courses, astronomical clubs, observational expeditions, program for schools, camps and many more. It mediates a touch with the Universe to handicapped or blind people too.

The observatory was opened in 1959. The original observing place has changed into professional workplace with a wide scientific interests, mainly focused on the Sun. Another important goal of observatory is popularization and education. The observatory is opened for public almost non-stop. People can observe the Sun or many objects of the night sky, all with comment. Visitors are informed about the modern astronomical techniques, they can visit a public lectures or watch educational programs. There are also an astronomical courses and Club of astronomers on the observatory. Except these activities the observatory organizes observational expeditions, lectures in schools, camps, libraries, museums, ZOO and in other interesting places. The Úpice observatory is able to mediate a touch with the Universe for handicapped or blind peoples too.
