Lecture

Economists have shown that globalization is good for economic development, but what about other consequences for society? Some have argued that openness to other countries undermines social cohesion in society and creates social conflicts. In this lecture, Associate Professor Niclas Berggren presents his research on the social consequences of globalization. Is it true that it threatens important features of a society, like trust and tolerance, or can it, conversely, strengthen such values?

Niclas Berggren is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN) in Stockholm, Sweden, and in the Department of Economics (KEKE NF) at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic.
